POINCIANA, Fla. -- Osceola County deputies are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a man outside of "The Food Spot" convenience store in the Town Center Drive Shopping Plaza in Poinciana.  Apparently a man was found dead lying right outside the front door late Thursday evening.

There were early reports of an assault and then gunshots, but it was not clear what led up to the shooting.

"We are not sure at this time. We are going to talk to people in the area and hopefully find some witnesses and release that information as we get it," an Osceola County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said.

It's not clear if the man found dead was a result of a robbery, a fight, or something else that turned very violent. The police are keeping the known facts quiet at this point.  "At this time, it's too early in the investigation to release anything about the suspect," the spokesperson said.

Deputies were searching for clues. They are interested in speaking with anyone who was around the store between the hours of 10:00pm and 11:00pm Thursday.

Detectives ask that anyone with information about the killing call the sheriff's office at 407-348-2222 or Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
